Top 3 Video Marketing Mistakes – and How to Avoid Them

top video marketing mistakes

Do you wish you could produce more videos to market your business online? But you are a little afraid of making costly mistakes? The truth is, there aren’t many mistakes you can make with Video Marketing.

However, in this video I will show you the Top 3 Mistakes I see Entrepreneurs and Small Business Owners making with video. They make videos and put them online, but they are not seeing results. I’ll show you why.

The Top 3 Video Marketing Mistakes Most Entrepreneurs Make, and How To Avoid Them:

#1. Unclear Message

If you produce a video by winging it just to get a video online, it may do more damage than good. Remember that you need to be very clear on the desired outcome of the video. And have a very clear call to action that you want the viewer to take.

Also, you must get very clear on who you are speaking to. If you are just speaking to the general public, you will not arrest the attention of your ideal customer. Be sure to be very clear in your messaging if you want to get great results.

#2. Too Long

It’s so easy to make long videos. Have you ever watched a video, where you got the point about half way through the video, and then it was just rambling to the end. Do NOT do that.

  1. Give a clear intro
  2. Make your point
  3. Give a clear call-to-action,
  4. …Then get out.

We do not have time nowadays to watch long rambling videos.

#3. Hype

This probably isn’t quite as big of deal for local business owners as it is online entrepreneurs. But I still think it’s worth making a point about.

We can smell hype a mile away.

You don’t need to boost your authority with unrealistic and dramatic figures. Just be authentic. Tell people who you are, what you do, and the benefits it will have on their lives.

Let your audience support your authority. Authority takes time to build. Do not resort to using hype to try and short-cut the process. It does more harm than good. I’ve experienced both sides. I can say it works way better to build trust among your audience naturally, than by using hype.

There you go.
Those are the top 3 mistakes you can make in video marketing. Please learn from them now, rather than having to learn the hard way.

My question for you today is:
Have you ever made one or more of those mistakes. Please join the conversation, at any time, and tell us about it. What did you do? What was the result? What do you wish you would have done differently? Is there anything else you could add to this conversation?
